HOTELS: RIAD ANAYELA

HOTELS: RIAD ANAYELA
To find the new, one must leave behind the old. Normally this is a painful and risky process. However when one has experienced how beautiful strange new worlds can be – and that they will be carried instead of drowning as they make that transition to the “new world” — Dr Albert Salber

If you haven't already been to Marrakech but it seems like a bit of an ordeal, don't worry- I've got you covered. Check out my ultimate guide to Marrakech here When visiting, Marrakech for the first time I stayed in a Riad. Riads are usually found inside the Medina which is the word for “Old Town” which is at the centre of Marrakech and the oldest part of the city, still operating the way it did thousands of years ago, with the bartering and haggling in the souks and the mint teas at sunset. I stayed at the Riad Anayela part of the Design Hotels group. Yes it really does look like this, yes it really is tranquil, an oasis at the edge of the Medina, and yes, you won’t want to leave.

What can I do whilst I’m there:
Book a classic Hammam and massage
Want to make the perfect tagine? Well now you can, Anayela do cooking classes with Khadija
The next time I visit I will definitely go on the Ourika Valley Tour, Stone Desert Atlas Mountains and a day trip to Essourouira
Hot Air Balloon Ride
Quad-biking (if you’re about that life)
A private dinner on the Rooftop
Relax and do absolutely nothing
Hire a tour guide and go on the Red City Tour
All of these marvellous things can be experienced at your convenience with the Riad

This petit hotel even preps you with a little cell phone to carry with you, so that you can explore the city and in the event that you might get lost, they can have someone pick you up from anywhere around the Medina in a jiffy. Or if you simply just want to make use of their taxi service, you can just give them a call anytime. Treat it like your personal concierge service.

This was one of the most extravagant baths I’ve ever taken. Full of Arabian opulence and glamour, why would you want to stay anywhere else?
